Website Design Checklist for Dubai SMEs
Planning a new website or redesign? Use this checklist to make sure your Dubai business website is fast, mobile-friendly, trustworthy and ready to rank.

A website is often the first serious impression a Dubai customer gets of your business, and they usually see it on a phone. Whether you are launching a new site or redesigning an old one, this checklist covers what small and medium businesses in Dubai need to get right. Use it to brief a designer or to review the site you already have.
1. A clear message above the fold
Within a few seconds, a visitor should know what you do, where you do it and how to contact you. Your main headline should state your service and location in plain words, for example “Physiotherapy Clinic in Al Barsha” rather than a vague slogan. Directly below, place a short supporting sentence and your main call to action.
2. One-tap call and WhatsApp buttons
Many customers in Dubai prefer WhatsApp to forms or email. Your website should have:
- A click-to-call phone link that works on mobile
- A WhatsApp button with a pre-filled message, such as “Hi, I found you on your website”
- Buttons that stay visible as visitors scroll on mobile
- A simple contact form for people who prefer email
3. Mobile-first design
Design for the phone first, then scale up for desktop. Check that text is readable without zooming, buttons are big enough for thumbs, images do not push content off-screen and there is no sideways scrolling. Card grids that work on desktop can become swipeable sliders on mobile, which keeps pages shorter and easier to browse.
4. Speed
Slow websites lose visitors, particularly on mobile data. Compress images and serve them at the right size, avoid heavy sliders and unnecessary plugins, use lazy loading for images further down the page and choose reliable hosting. Google’s page experience documentation explains why loading speed and stability matter for search.
5. A dedicated page for each service
One “Services” page listing everything you do is hard to rank. Give each main service its own page with a clear H1, a description of what is included, the process, who it is for, frequently asked questions and a call to action. This helps customers find the exact information they need and gives Google a specific page to rank for each search.
6. Trust signals that are real
Customers look for reasons to trust you. Show your real business name, address and phone number, photos of your team, premises or work, clear information about how you work and links to your Google Business Profile. Never invent reviews, client logos or statistics: if you are a new business, explain your process and approach instead. Honest content builds more trust than inflated claims.
7. Local signals
If customers come to you, include your address, an embedded Google Map and simple directions, such as nearby landmarks or metro stations. If you serve several areas, mention them naturally where relevant: for example, a cleaning company might explain which communities it covers, from Dubai Marina and JLT to Mirdif. Keep your business details identical to your Google Business Profile.
8. SEO basics built in from day one
- A unique title tag (around 60 characters) and meta description (around 155 characters) for every page
- One H1 per page containing the main keyword, with logical H2 and H3 headings
- Descriptive image file names and alt text
- LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ and breadcrumb structured data where appropriate
- An XML sitemap submitted to Google Search Console
- Internal links between related services and blog posts
Google’s SEO Starter Guide is a good, free reference for these basics.
9. Easy editing
You should be able to change prices, offers, photos and text without paying a developer every time. A WordPress site built with a visual page builder such as Elementor makes everyday edits straightforward, while keeping the design consistent.
10. Ownership and maintenance
Make sure the domain, hosting and website are registered in your business name and that you have admin access. After launch, plan for maintenance: regular updates, backups, broken-link checks and content changes. A neglected site slowly becomes slower, less secure and less effective.
Quick checklist
| Item | What to check |

| Speed | Compressed images, lazy loading, good hosting |
| Service pages | One page per main service with FAQs |
| Trust | Real details, photos and process; nothing invented |
| Local | NAP, map embed, areas served |
| SEO | Titles, descriptions, H1, schema, sitemap |
| Ownership | Domain, hosting and admin access in your name |
Common website mistakes we see in Dubai
When we review websites for small businesses across Dubai, the same problems come up again and again. Most are easy to fix once you know to look for them:
- A homepage slider with five rotating messages instead of one clear headline
- Phone numbers shown as images, so they cannot be tapped or found by Google
- Contact forms that quietly stopped sending emails months ago
- Huge, uncompressed photos that make the site slow on mobile data
- Every service crammed onto one page with no FAQs or details
- No mention of the area the business serves, even though customers search by area
- Old offers, prices or opening hours that no longer match reality
Before launching any new site, test it the way a customer would. Open it on your own phone using mobile data, try to find a specific service, tap the call and WhatsApp buttons and submit the contact form. If anything feels slow or confusing to you, it will feel worse to a stranger.
